Pieced and embroidered silk images in the Tibetan Tradition

Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo is a contemporary American textile artist working in a Tibetan tradition. In her fabric thangkas, sacred Buddhist images commonly portrayed in Tibetan thangka paintings are rendered in vivid mosaics of silk. Intricately layered and hand-stitched, these brilliantly colored works of Tibetan applique art inspire the heart and fascinate the eye.

The Tibetan word "thangka" is sometimes transliterated with different spellings. and this pieced and embroidered type is often referred to as appliqué thangka.  So you may be looking for fabric thanka or applique tangka or silk tanka...  However you spell it, thanks for visiting!
